Stripes the Monkey

This is Stripes, he’s a fun buddy with long arms and legs and a very good climber!

(Mönster på svenska finns här)

If you want to use the same colors I have you will need yellow, orange, red, green, blue and brown/light brown yarn and also a little bit of white and black yarn. The monkey in the picture is 40 cm tall from head to feet (about 16 inches). I have used yarn that gives 170 m/50 g (186 yds/1,8 oz) and a 2,5 mm hook. 50g (1,8 oz) of each color is enough.
Use thicker yarn if you want the monkey to be bigger.

I have sewn small pieces of velcro to the hands of my monkey, that way he can hang and climb!

I also used poly pellets with the toy stuffing to make him a bit heavier and better at sitting. That’s optional of course. If you stuff a crocheted animal with poly pellets you need to make sure they don’t fall out. I sewed a pouch out of a piece of pantyhose and put it right at the bottom of the monkeys body after I stuffed it with toy stuffing.

You can buy poly pellets for cheap online from Ebay for example. You can also use rice but then you will not be able to machine wash the toy.
