Puppy Lovey

I really like star shaped loveys, they’re cute and so much fun to make! This is a pattern for a lovey (or security blanket) with a puppy in green and white.

This blanket is made with cotton yarn in white and lime green. You also need some black thread and toy stuffing. I used yarn that gives 160 m/ 50 g (175 yds/1.8 oz) and a 2,5 mm hook. 1 skein (50 g or 1,75 oz) of each color is enough.

This is my second pattern for a lovey, the first one is here and it’s Harry Potter-themed.

Pattern for Puppy Lovey

The pattern is written using US terminology.

Blanket
ROW 1: Crochet ch 3 and 10 dc in a magic ring with white yarn. Skip the ch 3 and crochet a sl st to the first dc. (10 st)
ROW 2: Ch 5 (the first ch 3 counts as a dc). *2 dc in the next 2 dc, ch 2*. Repeat *-* 4 times in total. 2 dc in the next dc, 1 dc to the last sl st of row 1. 1 sl st to the first dc of the row. (30 st)
ROW 3: Sl st to the next dc. Ch 3 (counts as the first dc, here and at the beginning of every row). *3 dc + ch 2 + 3 dc in the next ch-2 sp, 1 dc in the next dc, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in the next dc*. Assembly:
Stuff the ears with toy stuffing just a little bit and sew them to the head. Sew nose and mouth with black thread. Sew the green circle to the head where one eye goes, sew eyes with black and white thread. (See picture.)

Sew footpads to the paws with green yarn, a bigger spot in the middle of the paw and three small dots above. Stuff the arms, not all the way up. Place the arms below the head with the footpads facing down. The arms should point in different directions. Sew them to the head.

Place the head with the arms attached in the center of the blanket. Sew the head and arms to the blanket, make sure you sew them to the right side.
